New Councillor

Oct 2018

It was a pleasure to welcome a new face to the Parish Council this month. Monica Carrera joined us for her first official meeting. Monica currently runs the Coffee Dog in the mornings and fills the rest of her time with various village activities. She will, we are sure, be a very welcome, active and useful member of the team.

July Update

Everyone has been working very hard on the Pavilion project and at the July meeting it was resolved that the Clerk would formally apply for this borrowing approval from the DCLG in order to obtain the funding from DBC in the form of an interest free loan of £100,000.

Provision has already been made in the precept to service this loan over a 10-year period. It was felt that asking the village to fundraise for the pavilion would conflict with the demands on people’s finances for the church roof, so the PC would concentrate on external funding. Other sources of funding will still be pursued.

In the meantime plans continue to be made that will allow us to demolish the existing building at the end of the 2018 cricket season and begin construction of the new, Wooden structure, which we aim to complete before the beginning of the following cricket season.

Pavilion Development Consultation Underway

The Pavilion development consultation is now underway. You can download plans to have a go at drawing something yourself from our Facebook page There are no judges, its just your opportunity to let us know what you think, so why not have a go, we really want your help.

Council News

There was a single applicant for the recent election, which was therefore uncontested. This means that a fullelection will not take place, so you can safely ignore the polling cards that were sent through the post. The candidate in question was Mr Andrew Lambourne who will sign the official paperwork on Monday evening and after which will be a councillor. We welcome him to the council and look forward to utilising his wealth of knowledge and expertise.
